PetStar is Mankind Pharma's entry into India's pet food and pet care market, launched in December 2022 with PetStar dog food and expanded in December 2025 with PetStar Delight, a cat food range. Mankind Pharma, incorporated in 1991 and publicly listed (BSE: 543904, NSE: MANKIND), is one of India's largest pharmaceutical companies with a pan-India presence across acute and chronic therapeutic areas; it diversified into animal health in 2007 across dairy, poultry and companion healthcare before launching PetStar. PetStar dog food is manufactured in the UK using European raw materials and technology, adhering to BRCGS (British Retail Consortium Global Standards) food safety certification, and is formulated to suit Indian climatic conditions; the range includes dry food, gravies, treats and specialised nutrition such as PetStar V Diet for dogs with specific dietary needs. PetStar Delight (cat food) is manufactured in Thailand, formulated with functional ingredients including cranberry for urinary health, turmeric for immunity/digestive health, and taurine for organ support, positioned as a clean-label option free of artificial colours and preservatives. The launch targets India's cat food category, valued at approximately ₹1,500 crore with ₹120 crore in monthly sales and growing at 18-20% CAGR.
