Our Story
About Dindigul Thalappakatti
The story of Dindigul Thalappakatti Biriyani began in 1957 in the heart of Dindigul, Tamil Nadu. Founded by Mr. Nagasamy Naidu as Anandha Vilas Biriyani Hotel, it started as a small establishment driven by a deep respect for traditional cooking and honest flavours. What made Thalappakatti biriyani distinct from the very beginning was its use of Seeraga Samba rice — the short-grained, aromatic variety that absorbs flavour deeply — combined with freshly hand-ground spices prepared in-house, Agmark cow ghee, and slow dum cooking methods. Meat is sourced from top-class breeds, especially from the renowned cattle markets of Kannivadi and Paramathi. The same original recipe and taste are preserved across all 100+ kitchens, locations and decades. Today, Thalappakatti serves across Bengaluru, Chennai, Coimbatore, Dindigul, Ernakulam, Kochi, Nagercoil, Pondicherry, Puducherry, Salem, Thiruvananthapuram, Virudhunagar and internationally. The brand has been celebrated in The Hindu, Times of India, Food Network and Zomato. It is managed by the founding family — headquarters now in Kalyan Nagar, Bengaluru.
