Himalaya Wellness Company (formerly Himalaya Drug Company) is a Bengaluru-headquartered Indian multinational personal care and pharmaceutical company founded in 1930 in Dehradun by Mr. M. Manal, who pawned his mother's bangles to buy a hand-operated tableting machine and began researching medicinal plants used by local healers in the forests around Dehradun. The company launched Serpina, the world's first natural antihypertensive drug, in 1934, and its flagship hepatoprotective drug Liv.52 in 1955 - still a top-selling herbal medicine today. Himalaya remains family-owned and professionally managed under parent company Himalaya Global Holdings Ltd. (via Himalaya Global Management Ltd.), spanning six generations-plus of continuous operation from founder to son to grandson, currently under Chairman Meraj Manal and Global CEO Shailendra Malhothra. The company's product portfolio spans Pharmaceuticals, Personal Care, Baby Care, Himalaya FOR MOMS, Wellness, Nutrition, and Animal Health (aquaculture, companion care, livestock, poultry), sold in 100+ countries with reported FY22 revenue of approximately ₹37.6 billion (~$440 million) and roughly 10,000 employees.
